Today was the first day of track for Abinadi. He has been excited about it for some time now. He ran track last year and enjoyed it a lot. I asked him yesterday when I should pick him up from track and he did not know but he called from school and left me a message today saying it would be 5:30pm. At 4:45 he comes home off the bus and I am confused. I ask him why he is home and not at track, he says it is because he wanted to be here to help me feed the horses. I hurt my back last Monday and he has been helping me with picking things up and doing things for me around the house because he knew I was in pain. I am amazed he wants to do this. So I ask him if we go and feed the horses right now then I could drive him to track if he wanted to go. He seemed to think he could do only one or the other and was truly confused by the proposition of being able to do both. So I had to explain it several ways before he understood that he would not have to give up track for feeding horses. What an amazing boy! He was willing to give up something he wanted to help me with something I could not do by herself.
